Job Description

Pay Rate: $83.18/hour, depending on experience

Contract Length: 1 Year

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Description Raise is currently hiring a Geophysicist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Responsibilities

Integrated Planning: Partner with asset geologists, reservoir engineers, and earthworks teams to design annual strat-well programs that effectively delineate reservoir boundaries.

Advanced Interpretation: Utilize seismic inversion and attribute analysis to characterize reservoir complexity and identify high-potential development opportunities.

Execution Support: Generate precision depth-converted seismic surfaces to guide well placement and provide real-time support during drilling operations.

Data Stewardship: Provide rigorous Quality Control (QC) for seismic data processing, ensuring parameters are tailored to specific business objectives.

Asset Strategy: Collaborate with acquisition, engineering, and regulatory teams to design 2D and 3D seismic programs aimed at reducing delineation risk and maximizing production.

Technical Communication: Integrate geophysical data into geomodels and regulatory submissions; lead technical reviews through high-quality documentation and presentations.

Continuous Improvement: Champion workflow optimization projects to refine the intersection of geoscience and reservoir engineering.

Qualifications

8 years of relevant industry experience in the Canadian energy sector.

Comfortable in a fast-paced prospecting heavy role.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation & visualization, seismic attribute analysis & other specialized geophysical interpretative techniques.

Good understanding of clastic depositional systems preferably with some exposure to Mannville Group stratigraphy.

Experience with a wide range of geoscience software such as Hampson-Russell, Jason, and SeisWare. Expertise in Petrel is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

B.Sc. in Geophysics (required).

Registered P. Geo and in good standing with APEGA or other Provincial Professional Geoscience Organization.
