Overview
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District is located in south-central British Columbia, with dozens rural and urban communities spread across 44,300 square kilometres. The TNRD provides more than 120 local government services to approximately 144,000 people in 10 Electoral Areas, 11 member municipalities, and 25 First Nations.
The TNRD is headquartered in the City of Kamloops, the largest community within the regional district. The Thompson-Nicola region has a vast range of climates that experience true four-season weather, with plenty of year-round sunshine, little rain, and warm summers. Residents generally have short commutes, easy access to recreation and the outdoors, and a high quality of life. The TNRD acknowledges that we are located within the unceded, ancestral lands of the Nlaka’pumux, Secwépemc, St’at’imc, and Syilx Nations.

Job Description
Reporting to the Manager of Finance the Accounting Technician provides essential transactional accounting support, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial data and compliance with established procedures. Primary duties include:
Process supplier and customer invoices, ensuring timely and accurate entry
Record and reconcile payments received from customers
Prepare and post supplier payments
Prepare and post journal entries; perform account reconciliations
Conduct collection activities for overdue accounts
Respond to routine queries and maintain organized financial records
Education and Experience
Completion of an accounting diploma or first-level accounting program with two years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general accounting principles and corporate financial systems.
Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently or in a team.
Proficiency in MS Office, accounting software, and organizational database systems
Working knowledge of record keeping methods
Ability to use confidential oral and written communication skills
Ability to verify data and run reports in a paperless environment
Ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to provide helpful and courteous client service
This position falls under the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 900. The placement of the Administrative Assistant is at Pay Grade 3, which is $2,134.14 to $2,450.42/biweekly (2025). This position requires a Criminal Record Check and a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License (must provide a clean Driver’s Abstract).
