IT Project Manager – ERP Upgrade

The Position:
Our Edmonton-based client is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead an enterprise-wide ERP upgrade with a strong focus on financial systems. You will guide the organization through planning, design, testing, cutover, and stabilization while partnering closely with Finance, IT, and third‑party vendors.
You excel in structured project delivery, risk management, and executive-level communication. You are skilled at translating technical activities into business impacts and supporting Finance teams through significant system and process change. What You'll Do:
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead the full project management lifecycle from initiation to close-out.
Facilitate planning, design, testing, training, product evaluation, and operational transition.
Manage detailed project schedules, budgets, dependencies, and risks.
Coordinate IT teams, Finance stakeholders, vendors, and system integrators.
ERP Upgrade Leadership
Oversee end-to-end ERP upgrade delivery including testing, cutover, and post‑go‑live stabilization.
Ensure solution decisions, process adjustments, and data migration activities are aligned with business requirements.
Finance & Business Partnership
Serve as the primary liaison between IT and Finance.
Support Finance through requirements validation, UAT, process changes, and readiness activities.
Ensure financial modules meet regulatory and business needs.
Facilitate workshops and decision-making sessions to resolve data, process, and configuration questions.
Governance & Delivery Management
Establish project governance and provide executive updates and status reporting.
Manage scope, change requests, risks, and issues.
Ensure compliance with audit, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
Lead UAT planning and execution with Finance teams.
Change, Risk & Quality Management
Identify and mitigate risks related to data integrity, financial close, reporting, and continuity.
Lead cutover and go‑live readiness planning.
Ensure documentation, training, and knowledge transfer are completed.
Mandatories:
Proven experience with project management methodologies.
5+ years of IT Project Management experience.
Experience leading ERP upgrades.
Strong experience working with Finance teams on financial systems or ERP transformations.
Solid understanding of financial business processes and system dependencies.
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Information Technology.
Skilled in stakeholder communication and executive reporting up to the C‑suite.
Public sector experience is an asset.
PMP or related project management certification.
ITIL v3 or v4 certification is an asset.
