We are seeking a talented and driven Data Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will work at transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that shape business strategy. You'll join the Analytics & AI team, a multidisciplinary group of data scientists, data analytics specialists, AI engineers, and data visualization experts. Collaborating closely in this environment, you'll support the development of Generative AI applications and the delivery & management of Analytical & AI technologies. You’ll also work directly with Technology and internal business team clients (Capital Markets, Quants, Private Investment, and more). The Data Scientist is a contributor to OTPP’s AI Practices and overall AI capabilities. What you'll do

With management and peer support, you will design, develop, and implement AI models and algorithms to support investment decisions, risk management and operation efficiency initiatives.

Support, analyze and help improve business KPIs through data science and analytics approaches

Evaluate potential analytical and ML/AI use case for feasibility and prototyping

Identify and evaluate new data sources for business applications

Analyze and interpret sophisticated sets of structured/un-structured data to identify patterns and potential opportunities

Visualize data, metrics, and patterns to produce insightful analytics, summarization and collaborate with teams on implementation

Work directly with business teams to innovate, inspire change and data driven insights

Continuously maintain, further develop and refine existing algorithms with new techniques, features or data

Assist with Data Engineering activities in application development and deployment

Contribute to building a well-managed ML/AI Ops practice within the organization

Recommend and implement best practices related to ML algorithms including model development, validation, monitoring and re-fit

Demonstrate promote good coding practices: documentation, version control and code review practices

Key contributor in the AI Application and advanced AI techniques

Thought leadership

Stay current with technology and industry trends

Explore and experiment new techniques, capability and new data sources, and make sound recommendations to business

Turn experiments and improvement opportunities into solutions

Decision making

Continuously research and identify improvement opportunities with ML/AI techniques and alternative data source

Recommend ML/AI approaches to solve various business problems and improve model outcomes/accuracy

Contribute to decision making on necessary practices, maintenance, required technology and appropriateness of ML/AI related technology/data use

What you'll need

Bachelor’s degree (relevant quantitative field of study)

Passion about leveraging data science in investment and asset management context

Previous experience in investment (Capital Market and/or Private Equities) is an asset

Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technology and approaches

Ability to independently research on potential solutions from both industry and academic resources

Ability to articulate thoughts / ideas to effectively collaborate with business and IT partners

Strong problem-solving skills working in a team-based environment

Solid grasp of ML/AI applications, data science and other advanced analytic techniques

What we’re offering

Pay-for-performance with base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. The Base Salary range for this level is as follows: $105,000 - $155,000. Individual compensation and placement of this role in the range is based on different factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, demonstrated competencies, and internal equity as they relate to the role.
