We are currently hiring a

Director Communications

to support our

London Administration team .

The Director, Communications provides expert leadership for Libro’s corporate communications strategies and initiatives, advancing the purpose, values and vision of the organization by developing and executing communication objectives.

Collaborating with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate, consistent messaging across all internal and external channels impacting Libro’s brand awareness, reputation, thought leadership and goals as a credit union.

The Role

Develop, evaluate, and implement corporate communications strategies and plans for Libro. Work closely with CEO and Executives to ensure alignment with Enterprise Strategy, risk appetite, ethical standards and cooperative values.

Support senior leadership in strategically aligned communications opportunities such as media, social media and speaking opportunities.

Ensure Libro has trained and capable spokespeople where needed.

Ensure distribution of corporate key messaging and targeted coaching for key staff to support consistency and quality of the credit union’s voice.

Oversee governance, development and ongoing improvement and sustainment of Libro’s company intranet, ensuring it meets the needs of the credit union and provides a strong reference point for all staff.

Lead internal communications planning and delivery across all available channels to promote positive staff engagement and build on Libro’s shared culture. This includes leadership for video projects, live events and reference materials, and ensuring alignment with the Enterprise Strategy.

Promote staff understanding of Libro’s messaging, ensuring timely and consistent shares of content and seeking feedback. Monitor and manage staff commentary across all channels, managing reputational risk.

Develop proactive and reactive public relations strategies and plans to promote awareness and visibility of Libro, including key Credit Union events (Annual General Meeting) and annual reporting.

Employ a data-led approach to target key stakeholder groups including Owners, social media users, mainstream media and the public.

Provide expert guidance related to thought leadership opportunities, including clarity of messaging, and the implications and impact of public commentary on staff and Owners.

Lead media relations as main media contact, establishing and deepening relationships with media partners. Proactively involve media and related partners in telling Libro’s story.

As a member of the Crisis Management Team, lead crisis communications, aiding development and implementation of Business Continuity Plans.

Directly manage and support a diverse team through regular individual coaching and development while providing oversight on operational policies and planning.

Lead, coach, and empower a team of communication professionals, fostering innovation, professional growth, and a high-performance culture.

Responsible for developing communications skills in members of the Communications Team and others across the credit union.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align corporate communications plans and objectives with broader organizational goals.

Manage the Communications budget to cover staff development, training and public relations needs.

What We’re Looking For

University Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in the areas of communications, journalism, business or related discipline.

7-10 years of progressive, cumulative experience in communications and/or journalism, including leadership of teams in fast-paced environments.

Experience planning and coordinating communications for internal and external corporate events.

Expertise in analysis of data and other information sources when decision-making.

Expertise in content creation in all current channels, maintaining relevancy to market trends; includes text, video, audio, live presentations in-person and on-camera.

IABC membership (International Association of Business Communicators)
