Position Summary
We have a current vacancy for a Junior Systems Engineer to join our Team in Ottawa, ON. Thales Canada, Defence & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Army’s Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions on a daily basis. Together with industry partners, Thales is building on the existing networks and applications to enhance digitized operations, support communications between joint and allied forces, and monitor and defend against the threats and evolving capabilities of potential adversaries.
Thales Canada is looking for people interested in directly contributing to the evolution of advanced digitized operations for the Canadian Army into the future, both in Canada and on overseas deployments as part of our agile teams. There are opportunities available in each of the four LC4ISR programs, which include:
System of systems engineering and integration
Core network
Applications
Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR)
You will join the Systems Engineering teams located in Ottawa, Canada and provide system engineering support throughout the project execution cycle from specification, design, development, integration, test, and acceptance. In your efforts to develop and sustain mission systems you will integrate a variety of sensors, software, firmware, and apps on commercial and military platforms.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Develop the preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements
Identify, characterize, and analyze issues in the system or its design through problem reports and document and design reviews
Estimate and appropriately decompose work in an agile lifecycle process
Provide timely and accurate status updates
Assess the impact of planned changes on the existing system
Author or review technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including the architecture, interfaces, and installation elements
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the designs are consistent with needs, desires, and concerns of the end-users
Support the development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures
Collaborate with other functions during the implementation and integration of the system and subsystem designs
Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements
Support the installation and/or integration testing of the systems remotely or on customer site
Basic Qualifications
University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline
Ability to obtain clearances as specified under the Regulatory Compliance section
Preferred Qualifications
Any kind of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems or software would be an asset.
Physical Demands
Minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment, connecting equipment in a lab environment or job site (including onboard vehicle or vessel).
Special Position Requirements
Hybrid position. Full time, standard business hours. Possibility of occasional travel to customer site for technical support / integration activities. Possibility of occasional travel within Canada for planning events.

Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 76,881.34 – 96,101.68 CAD Annual.
