Associate, Private Equity Sponsor Coverage Group – Commercial Banking (Toronto, ON)

Purpose
The Associate contributes to the profitable growth and quality of the Bank’s Commercial Credit portfolio by supporting the Private Equity Sponsor Coverage Group in credit application write‑up, collecting information, conducting financial modelling, and providing company and industry analysis for the Deal Team.
Accountabilities
Champions a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
Contribute To Commercial Loan Portfolio Growth And Profitability By
Performing analytic functions and due diligence on deals
Assisting with transaction execution (deal write‑up, analysis in Moody’s Financial Analyst and Borrower Risk Rating model)
Completing risk assessments and developing recommendations for appropriate actions
Analyzing and processing amendment requests
Researching credit and bank service requirements of existing and prospective clients
Building financial models
Conducting industry research
Credit Analysis and Documentation Responsibilities
Ensure credits are properly investigated, evaluated and documented using MFA output and additional trend analysis from financial statements
Conduct sensitivity analysis by modelling and projecting financial statements
Support the Associate Director in obtaining documentation required for closing transactions, including conditions precedent
Experience with NCino is an asset
Operational Risk, Regulatory Compliance and Conduct
Understand and apply the Bank’s risk appetite in day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Maintain effective day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and Conduct Risk Guidelines.
Education and Experience Requirements
Post‑secondary education – B.B.A., B.Comm. or equivalent
2–3 years of corporate/commercial lending experience preferred
Intermediate credit skills (complex deal write‑up, financial spread, risk assessment)
Intermediate accounting and financial statement analysis
Intermediate or advanced Excel skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic sales skills and ability to attend client meetings
Working Conditions
Standard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours and limited local travel may be required
Prompt and timely responses to credit applications are required; workload volume may vary
Non‑standard work hours are expected
