Today, over 190 million learners and 375+ university and industry partners use our platform to gain skills in fields such as AI, data science, technology, and business. As a Delaware public‑benefit corporation and Certified B Corp, we’re driven by the belief that learning can transform lives through learning.

Why Join Us

At Coursera, we’re looking for inventors, innovators, and lifelong learners ready to shape the future of education. You’ll build global programs and tools that power online learning for millions, turning bold ideas into real impact. Our globally distributed team lets you work from home, a Coursera hub, or a co‑working space near you. If you’re ready to make a global impact, scale unique products exclusive to Coursera, and expand your career horizons, we want you.

Team Overview

The Product Management team drives our mission of providing universal access to world‑class learning. Principal Product Managers operate as system‑level and portfolio leaders, defining strategies, platforms, and frameworks that power Coursera’s next era of growth. They combine deep technical and market fluency with exceptional influence, shaping long‑term product direction across business units and executive stakeholders.

Job Overview

As a Principal Product Manager, you will lead cross‑organization strategy and execution for one or more of Coursera’s most critical product systems or platforms. You’ll shape multi‑year product investments, anticipate technology and market shifts, and ensure the platform remains at the forefront of AI‑driven learning innovation. You’ll serve as a thought partner to executives, a mentor to senior PMs, and a multiplier for organizational decision‑making and excellence.

Responsibilities

Define multi‑year product and platform strategy that shapes Coursera’s next wave of growth, integrating consumer, enterprise, and content ecosystems.

Develop and own a portfolio investment thesis, creating durable planning and prioritisation mechanisms (e.g., annual planning, QBRs) that guide how we allocate resources and scale impact.

Set Coursera‑wide AI product standards, including evaluation and monitoring frameworks, responsible AI and safety policies, and data governance practices.

Build and align large, cross‑org programs with significant technical or operational complexity; partner with engineering leadership on architecture decisions that improve reliability, scalability, and developer velocity.

Shape monetisation, learning ecosystem, and customer life‑cycle strategies, driving category‑defining launches and strategic partnerships that strengthen Coursera’s leadership position in learning technology.

Serve as a thought partner to executives, influencing VP and business‑unit‑level priorities, shaping company‑wide product narratives, and representing Coursera externally in partner and industry forums.

Mentor and elevate senior PM talent, establishing product standards, documentation quality, and decision‑making frameworks that scale across the organization.

Qualifications

10+ years of product management experience, including ownership of platform or multi‑business‑unit product portfolios with progressively greater impact on business and customer outcomes.

Demonstrated success defining and scaling platform or ecosystem strategies that span multiple surfaces or user types and are used globally across diverse markets.

Deep expertise in AI‑enabled or data‑driven product systems, including responsible AI, model evaluation, and data governance with a history of shipping.

Proven ability to lead technically complex programmes in partnership with engineering, data science, design and research leadership and bring them to market at high velocity.

Experience synthesising complex technical and strategic topics for diverse audiences.

Nice to have

Experience building or scaling AI‑first platforms and customer experiences, particularly in learning, productivity, content or knowledge domains.

Leadership of a start‑up or internal 0‑1 innovation product development effort through ambiguity and rapid innovation.

Partnerships with peers, industry or research organisations advancing applied AI, making you an attractor of future product talent.

Strong executive presence with a proven ability to lead by influence at VP and C‑suite levels and engage with leadership for external customers and partners.

A product leader who inspires colleagues to think bigger, look beyond safe bets, and tackle challenges with conviction.

Deep curiosity about customers and a history of using data and feedback to understand their needs and improve their experiences.

Compensation

Competitive pay and equitable compensation practices. The targeted hiring base‑salary range for this role is between $196,000 – $245,000 CAD for all Canada candidates. Base pay is dependent on many factors, including prior experience, training, education, transferable skills, business needs and geographical location. It may be modified in the future and may also include variable pay, equity and benefits.
