Head of Engineering, Onboarding

About the role The Head of Engineering will set the vision, guide architecture, and build a multi‑disciplinary technology team dedicated to delivering industry‑leading software products within Scotiabank’s onboarding platform.

This platform supports Know Your Customer, Identity verification, risk adjudication, and product activation across all channels.

Responsibilities

Oversee the design, development, deployment, and operationalization of highly scalable, sustainable enterprise‑wide technology products, components, and tools that support the overall customer onboarding ecosystem.

Collaborate with Global Digital Banking Leaders (Engineering, Design, Product, Analytics, Delivery) to execute digital capabilities roadmaps and vision through agile delivery, fostering a high‑velocity engineering environment.

Promote co‑creation and reusability at a global scale by working with teams in different countries and business lines to accelerate software development.

Build a high‑performance engineering culture, implement a people strategy to attract, retain, develop and motivate the team, and manage succession and development planning.

Qualifications

10+ years of leadership experience managing large, complex enterprise‑level technology projects and programs with significant technology and operational components.

Expert knowledge of software development and design principles for highly scalable, enterprise‑level technology stacks.

Deep understanding of modern agile principles and experience with a range of modern technologies and frameworks, including full‑stack proficiency.

Flexibility to adapt to new and evolving environments and a demonstrated willingness to learn new skills quickly.

Strong leadership and relationship‑building skills.

Extensive experience with automation, deployment and testing practices at scale.

Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to semi‑technical audiences.
