Tax Senior (Public Accounting firm, CPA required) St Catharines, Ontario

Salary up to $110,000

Tax is a funny area of public accounting. Some people are perfectly happy preparing returns year after year. Others get a few years in and start wondering if there is more to it. More planning. More strategy. More conversations with business owners before decisions are made, not just after year end.

This role leans toward that second path.

It is a Tax Senior position with a well regarded firm in St Catharines. Good reputation locally. Good people. The sort of place where staff tend to stay rather than constantly rotating out the door.

The work starts where most tax roles do: Corporate and personal tax, owner managed businesses, working closely with partners on client files. But the firm is also growing the advisory side of its tax work. Planning conversations, structuring decisions, helping business owners think about the tax side of things before they happen.

So if you are curious about that side of tax, there is room here to grow into it.

The team works closely together in the office and there is a strong culture of learning. If you get stuck on something, you can actually walk into someone’s office and ask rather than quietly wrestling with it for half a day.

There is also a clear path from Senior to Manager here. The firm prefers promoting people internally rather than constantly hiring from outside.

You do need your CPA designation for this role.

Not halfway through it. Not planning to start it next year. Already qualified.
