Every day, thousands of developers and marketers create, iterate, and scale WordPress and Drupal sites to reach billions of people globally. Pantheon's multitenant, container-based platform enables organizations to manage all of their websites from a single dashboard. Organizations including Clorox and the United Nations drive results through accelerated development and real‑time publishing using Pantheon's collaborative workflows.
The Role
Pantheon is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Delivery Engineering (DelEng) team. As a senior member of the team, you will design, build, and evolve the systems, standards, and paved paths that power Pantheon's end‑to‑end delivery workflow across the company.
Our work is organized around four focus areas that guide everything we build:
Automated, consistent, and governed delivery
Standardized CI/CD pipelines, reusable components, and paved paths that remove friction and support consistent releases.
Deployment safety and quality assurance
Built‑in validation, progressive delivery patterns, automated verification, and fast rollback paths that increase confidence in every release.
Scalable release observability and analytics
Metrics, tagging, logs, and dashboards that make every release visible, traceable, and measurable.
Governance and compliance at scale
Versioned templates, required approvals, artifact provenance, and compliance checks that make safe releases the default.
As a senior engineer, you will:
Design scalable delivery and deployment patterns using modern GCP offerings
Define and improve standardized delivery workflows adopted across product and platform teams
Solve challenges in Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC), secrets management, artifact registries, service identity, and secure delivery
Lead POCs for advanced delivery techniques like blue‑green, canary, and progressive rollouts
Improve episodic environment workflows for testing and pre‑production
Identify friction in build and deploy workflows and design solutions that scale across engineering
Partner with teams to elevate delivery practices and ensure consistent adoption of paved paths
Participate in the on‑call rotation to help ensure the reliability of the delivery platform
What you Need to Succeed
Clear, confident communication and the ability to influence engineering teams toward consistent delivery practices
Collaborative approach to working with product teams, platform teams, SRE, and architects
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to take work from concept to adoption
Empathy for developers and understanding of how delivery workflows impact their day‑to‑day experience
Ability to navigate ambiguity, break down complex problems, and make pragmatic technical tradeoffs
Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed engineering organization and build strong relationships across time zones
Comfort working in large distributed systems and helping others understand them
What you Bring to the Table
Experience applying AI/ML techniques to improve delivery workflows, such as intelligent test selection, failure pattern detection, or release verification.
Experience leading or significantly contributing to delivery, platform, or infrastructure initiatives across multiple teams
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to guide the adoption of delivery standards, paved paths, and quality guardrails
Interest in software supply chain security concepts and a willingness to learn as needed
Ability to build scalable, maintainable components. Experience with Go is helpful, and strong proficiency in Python, or similar languages is equally valuable.
Experience with GitHub Actions ecosystem, including reusable workflows and self‑hosted runners
Familiarity with Terraform‑based infrastructure patterns
Deep experience with containers, Kubernetes, and serverless platforms like Cloud Run
Ability to design reliable CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows with strong validation and test coverage
What We Offer
Industry competitive compensation and equity plan
Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Sick Leave (PSL) and 11 Paid Company Holidays
Full medical coverage (Extended health care, dental, vision)
Top‑of‑line equipment
In‑office workspace (Vancouver, BC Canada)
Monthly allowance for wellness, reading and access to LinkedIn Learning for continued development
Events and activities both team‑based and company wide that inspire, educate and cultivate
