About the Opportunity The City of Penticton is looking for a

full-time Engineering Manager , based in

Penticton, B.C.

Reporting to the General Manager of Infrastructure, the Engineering Manager leads the City’s in-house engineering department, overseeing the planning, design, and delivery of complex municipal infrastructure projects while guiding long‑term asset management and capital planning initiatives that directly impact the community.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leading and managing the Engineering Department, including supervising and supporting a multidisciplinary technical team

Preparing, managing, and delivering the Infrastructure Division capital plan and long‑term capital budgeting

Overseeing the planning, design, and construction of City‑led and consultant‑led infrastructure projects

Managing major infrastructure initiatives including transportation networks, underground utilities, creek naturalization and dam upgrades, and wastewater system upgrades

Coordinating with internal departments to ensure projects align with organizational priorities and service objectives

Working closely with external consultants, contractors, and partner agencies to deliver high‑quality projects

Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to established standards and specifications

Providing technical expertise and guidance on municipal engineering practices and construction processes

Engaging with the public and stakeholders to support transparent communication and community‑focused outcomes

Supporting asset management planning and infrastructure lifecycle decision‑making

Contributing as a member of the Infrastructure Leadership Team to strategic planning and departmental collaboration

About You To qualify, you will need a

bachelor's in Civil Engineering

and

currently registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in B.C.

A minimum of

5 years of related engineering experience , along with

3+ years of supervisory experience , will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

Experience working within a municipal or local government environment

Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure design, construction, and municipal engineering practices

Familiarity with asset management planning and long‑term capital budgeting

Proficiency with engineering, GIS, financial, and administrative software systems

As our ideal candidate, you will possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently engage with staff, senior leadership, council, contractors, partner agencies, and the public. You bring a collaborative and customer‑focused leadership style, exercise sound judgment, and are comfortable working autonomously while seeking input and engagement from others to make well‑informed decisions.
