Who are we looking for? As Nuclear Energy Leader for GHD’s Ontario Region, you will represent the voice of our nuclear clients and supply‑chain partners, and play a critical role in shaping GHD’s nuclear market strategy. You will exemplify world‑class client relationship leadership—combining technical credibility, regulatory understanding, commercial insight, and a partnership‑first mindset. You will lead the creation and execution of GHD’s nuclear growth plan, elevate the client experience, and position GHD as a differentiated, high‑value partner across the nuclear ecosystem.
Passionate about building relationships and advancing nuclear development in Ontario, with a future view towards Canada, you will work across markets and disciplines to represent nuclear client perspectives, build strategic partnerships, drive collaboration, and position GHD for long‑term opportunity. You will be empowered to influence, lead, and accelerate change.
Responsibilities
Working with an energetic and high‑performing team, you will be involved in:
Nuclear Market & Account Leadership
– Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary internal team focused on delivering high‑value solutions to Ontario’s nuclear sector, providing strategic vision, technical guidance, client insights, and pursuit leadership. Collaborate with GHD’s UK business and its client space in the nuclear energy market.
Client Relationship Development
– Develop and implement a Nuclear Client Interaction Plan to build deep relationships. Partner with Regional Market Leaders and Sector Leaders to elevate GHD’s presence and maintain understanding of trends.
Strategic Growth Planning
– Lead the creation and execution of a 3 to 5‑year Nuclear Growth Plan for Ontario, aligned with provincial policy and refurbishment schedules.
Client & Project Delivery Support
– Implement an integrated nuclear business plan, work with Project Directors and delivery teams to ensure alignment with client expectations and nuclear‑grade quality standards.
Nuclear Quality Programs & Compliance
– Guide GHD’s approach to nuclear quality systems, identifying certification needs and leveraging partnership models.
Industry Knowledge & Capability Building
– Maintain a deep understanding of nuclear system engineering, plant operations, refurbishments, SMR technologies, regulatory processes, and more. Share best practices and support talent development.
Partnership & Supply‑Chain Engagement
– Engage engineering firms, EPC contractors, and vendors to explore collaboration and develop partnership approaches.
Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Integration
– Work with Market Leaders to position GHD for major assignments requiring cross‑disciplinary integration.
Brand Building & Industry Networking
– Represent GHD at key nuclear industry events, associations, and conferences, building visibility and credibility.
Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Project Manager, or equivalent nuclear industry credential
10–20+ years of experience in the nuclear sector, including positions with utilities, EPC firms, testing labs, technology vendors, engineering firms, or regulatory‑adjacent organizations
Deep experience engaging with Ontario’s nuclear owners/operators and understanding of organizational structure, investment programs, contracting models, governance culture, and decision‑making pathways
Strong working knowledge of nuclear quality programs, including CSA N286/N299, utility procurement processes, safety culture, and readiness requirements
Experience planning, managing, or delivering work in areas such as SMR development, CANDU refurbishment, decommissioning, balance‑of‑plant design, field engineering, or nuclear environmental assessment
Proven track record of establishing partnerships across engineering firms, constructors, manufacturers, and technology developers
Experience developing long‑term client strategies, market entry frameworks, or technical growth plans
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence senior stakeholders, and navigate complex organizational environments
Familiarity with federal/provincial nuclear policy, CNSC regulatory processes, and energy system planning in Ontario
Ability to interpret market intelligence, identify emerging opportunities, and translate insights into actionable strategy
Skilled interpersonal communicator with strong emotional intelligence, able to address complex issues with tact, diplomacy, and a solutions‑oriented mindset
Ability and willingness to travel across Ontario (Darlington, Pickering, Bruce, Chalk River, Toronto)
