Responsibilities

Provide legal, regulatory and risk‑management advice primarily related to M&A and financing transactions.

Advise on IT and commercial third‑party contracts.

Handle corporate governance of subsidiaries and minority investments.

Support general corporate and commercial matters as required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of M&A experience, gained from a financial institution, leading law firm or corporation.

Strong preference for familiarity with regulatory issues of a regulated life and health insurance company, insurance distribution, and technology/IT procurement matters.

Confidence and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills, sound judgment and a pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.

Bilingual (English and French) language skills are valued.

Location The position may be based out of the Empire Life offices in Toronto, Kingston, Montreal or Quebec City, with an option for working from home part of the time.
