Job Description

Adecco is currently hiring a full-time skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Controls Engineer/Technologist to support the design, programming, and troubleshooting of industrial control systems used in material handling equipment. In this role, you will prepare detailed electrical drawings, design new machine control systems, develop PLC and microcontroller programs, and provide hands‑on technical support during panel testing. This position is ideal for an engineering professional with strong industrial controls knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating safe, reliable, and efficient automation solutions.

Pay Rate:

$35.00 - $40.00/hour (based on experience)

Bowmanville, ON

Schedule:

Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities

Develop and prepare electrical drawings for control panels used in material handling systems.

Produce accurate schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings according to project specifications.

Ensure all designs comply with electrical standards and best practices.

Design new machine control systems, including the selection and specification of sensors, switches, and remote devices.

Integrate electrical components and ensure compatibility with automation hardware and software.

Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs (ladder logic).

Program microcontrollers using C/C++ and Python as required for automation and control tasks.

Support system testing and validation to ensure functionality and safety.

Assist production and shop personnel with control panel troubleshooting during testing and commissioning.

Diagnose wiring issues, component failures, and programming errors.

Ensure panels meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements.

Work cross‑functionally with engineering, production, and project teams to support successful product delivery.

Maintain accurate documentation related to drawings, programming, and bills of materials.

Utilize ERP systems to manage sales orders, materials, and related project data.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Controls, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Strong understanding of industrial and commercial electrical systems.

Previous experience in industrial controls design, including relay logic, PLC systems, and microcontroller‑based controls.

Demonstrated programming skills in PLC (ladder logic) and microcontroller programming (C/C++, Python).

Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (2010 or newer) and Microsoft Office (2010 or newer).

Familiarity with ERP systems, bills of materials, and order processing.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Mechanical aptitude and strong problem‑solving abilities.

Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada.
