Our client, a leading national wealth management organization, is seeking a
Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning
to provide advanced tax strategy, estate planning expertise, and high-net-worth advisory support across the Ontario market. Based in the Ottawa area, this executive will partner closely with direct clients, financial advisors, portfolio managers, and internal planning teams to deliver sophisticated tax‑efficient solutions for affluent families, business owners, and incorporated professionals.
This is a strategic client‑facing role combining deep technical expertise with strong relationship management to elevate the firm’s overall planning capabilities.
Client Advisory & Technical Expertise
Provide advanced
tax, estate, and succession planning
advice to high‑net‑worth clients across Ontario.
Analyze complex client situations including corporate structures, trusts, estate freezes, intergenerational wealth transfer, and post‑mortem planning.
Develop tailored strategic recommendations in areas such as:
Corporate tax planning (CCPCs, holding companies, compensation strategies)
Trust and estate planning (inter vivos & testamentary)
Business succession and transition planning
Retirement and decumulation strategies
Charitable giving and philanthropic planning
Partner with financial advisors and wealth planning teams to enhance client presentations and planning proposals.
Assist advisors in structuring solutions that improve tax efficiency, estate outcomes, and long‑term wealth preservation.
Conduct joint client meetings to articulate planning strategies and provide subject‑matter expertise.
Build advisor capabilities through training sessions, workshops, and proactive coaching.
Thought Leadership & Market Development
Act as an internal expert on changes in tax legislation, estate laws, and wealth planning trends.
Develop thought leadership content such as whitepapers, advisor guides, and client educational materials.
Participate in industry events, client seminars, and regional initiatives to strengthen the firm’s presence across Ontario.
Support expansion of the firm’s high‑net‑worth planning offering by contributing to product development and strategic planning.
Ensure all planning recommendations adhere to tax laws, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies.
Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of analysis, assumptions, and client recommendations.
Qualifications
CPA, CA, JD, LLB, TEP, CFP, or equivalent designation highly preferred.
Minimum
10+ years
of progressive experience in tax planning, estate planning, or private wealth advisory.
Expertise in Canadian personal, corporate, and trust taxation, with strong knowledge of Ontario estate laws.
Proven ability to assess complex financial structures and present sophisticated planning solutions to clients.
Exceptional communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
Experience advising high‑net‑worth families, business owners, or incorporated professionals.
Ability to travel within Ontario to support advisors and client engagements.
