Electrical Engineer
on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems that support critical mining operations. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help translate project requirements into practical, high-quality engineering solutions that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient system performance.
This role blends technical design with real-world project execution, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across disciplines. From performing electrical analysis and ETAP modelling to developing specifications and sealed engineering documentation, you will help deliver solutions that move projects from concept through implementation in complex industrial environments.
Responsibilities
Develop and support designs for low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems used in mining operations
Work independently as a senior engineer while coordinating with other engineering disciplines
Assist with project planning, material cost estimates, and schedule development
Perform engineering design and analysis for electrical systems and components
Develop technical specifications, maintenance standards, and operating procedures for electrical equipment and systems
Perform ETAP modelling and analysis to support electrical system design and performance evaluation
Sign and/or seal technical documents, including engineering drawings, specifications, data sheets, calculations, and engineering lists (equipment lists, pipeline lists, tie-in point lists, valve lists, etc.)
Qualifications
4-10+ years of experience as an electrical engineer in an industrial or heavy‑industry setting (Mining, Oil & Gas, or Power Generation preferred).
Experience designing low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems
Proven ability to work independently and support multidisciplinary engineering projects
Experience in electrical system design, analysis, and engineering documentation
Experience performing ETAP modelling and result analysis
Ability to review, sign, and seal engineering documentation
Education And Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized polytechnic or technical institute.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility to obtain one
Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and industry safety standards (e.g., CSA, ISA).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Additional Information
As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required.
