Overview
Your Opportunity: The Protective Services (PS) Director for Corridors (to be determined) within the South Sector is a key leadership role in the PS program, reporting directly to the Executive Director – South Sector. This position is responsible and accountable for providing leadership to operational protective services staff, and for the overall security of AHS staff, patients, visitors and assets within the South Sector Corridors. You will act as a role model, establishing a culture of service and performance excellence for operational standards within Protective Services. The PS Director will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders in order to provide operational leadership and to oversee all related programs and services. The person in this role requires expert judgement and experience to provide innovative solutions, advice and direction to clients within an assigned zone on the specialty functions provided by PS, while at the same time contributing to the development of best practices as a whole. The PS Director is also responsible for maintaining multiple budgets within their scope of accountability, as well as for liaising with all relevant leadership within the PS to ensure adherence to all internal standards and procedures, such as investigations, training, fire and life safety codes, and financial reconciliations. Location of the position would be within the South Sector (Red Deer, Calgary, Lethbridge or Medicine Hat).

Responsibilities
Provide leadership to operational protective services staff and oversee security for staff, patients, visitors and assets in the South Sector Corridors.
Act as a role model and establish a culture of service and performance excellence for Protective Services.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders to provide operational leadership and oversee related programs and services.
Offer expert judgement and innovative solutions, advice and direction to clients within an assigned zone on PS functions while contributing to best practice development.
Manage multiple budgets within scope and liaise with PS leadership to ensure adherence to internal standards and procedures such as investigations, training, fire and life safety codes, and financial reconciliations.
Collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment with internal standards and procedures and to support organizational goals.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education in a related field. Seven to ten years supervisory or management experience, preferably in a public safety related field. Public speaking capabilities. Proven multi-tasking and effective decision-making abilities in a fast paced, stressful environment. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, ability to effectively gain commitment from others, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and to create innovative solutions to complex or diverse issues. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, committees and other partners. Practical experience in strategic development, leadership and project management. Strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and critical decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Security Management Certificate. Management or progressive leadership experience in healthcare security field. Equivalent education and experience considered. Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) designation. Certified Protection Professional (CPP).
