Solution Architect- Cloud and Security

Overview

Location: Hybrid - Toronto and Scarborough (3–4 days onsite). Contract Duration: 6 months with high possibility of extension & conversion to FTE Hiring Manager: Information Security Senior Manager Reason: New need Business group: Cloud & Platform Engineering - integrating application security vulnerability detection tools used by the Bank for static code analysis and SBoM generation Project: The incumbent is responsible for supporting and upholding the Bank’s application change control standards. The Solution Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive IT solutions that meet the requirements of Application Security within the bank. This role requires a deep understanding of various technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Supporting several projects – SCA SBOM, vulnerability reporting management and others as needed in cloud and AppSec

Typical Day in Role

Solution Design: Develop high-quality, scalable, and robust IT solutions that align with the business requirements and strategic goals of our clients.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.

Architecture Governance: Ensure that all solutions adhere to architectural standards, best practices, and industry regulations.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues associated with solution designs and propose mitigation strategies.

Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve solution quality and efficiency.

Candidate Requirements / Must Have Skills

10+ years of experience in IT architecture, solution design, and implementation.

2+ years’ experience in networking and IT security best practices

2+ years’ experience with cloud architectures on enterprise-scale projects (e.g. multi-cloud, hybrid deployments)

5+ years’ experience with multiple design patterns (microservices, APIs, enterprise integration patterns)

Nice-To-Have Skills

TOGAF is an asset

Hands-on development experience in Python or Java

Application Security experience

Best vs. Average Candidate Ideal candidate can demonstrate they are a self-starter who takes initiative, ideally someone who started as a Dev/engineer who progressed to solution architect, has strong enterprise cloud architecture experience, and can explain a large piece of architecture they were involved in—not just a small component.
