Managing Lawyer (Ontario) - Launch V-Law Ontario
V-Law is Canada's pioneering full-service virtual back office for lawyers, eliminating the administrative burden that holds solo and small firm lawyers back. We're not just another legal tech platformโwe provide comprehensive done-for-you services including operational support, compliance management, administrative support, automation and tech assistance, bookkeeping and trust accounting, co-branded marketing, and mentorship. Our lawyers retain 70% of their revenue while we handle everything except the legal work itself.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a visionary Managing Lawyer to establish and lead V-Law Ontario from the ground up. This role focuses on building the future of legal practice in Ontario. Ideally, you have strong experience in Family Law, Estate Litigation, Estates, or Corporate Law.
Responsibilities
Law Society Compliance : Liaise with the Law Society and manage all audit requirements
Financial Oversight : Oversee trust and operating accounts with the accountant/bookkeeper
Strategic Leadership : Set the vision, direction, and priorities for V-Lawโs growth
Lawyer Recruitment : Bring in and onboard strong, value-aligned associates
Practice Development : Build your own book while driving firm-wide revenue
Operational Excellence : Design, improve, and scale processes and systems
Culture Building : Create a collaborative, innovative environment that attracts top talent
Business Development : Generate new clients through your network and professional presence

Candidate Profile
Must-Have Requirements
Tech-Savvy Professional : Comfortable with legal practice management software, AI tools, and virtual collaboration platforms; quick to learn new systems; views technology as a practice enabler
Small/Mid-Sized Firm Experience : Background in firms with 2-20 lawyers; process improvement and operational efficiency experience; comfortable with ambiguity and building systems from scratch
Business Development Excellence : Proven track record of client origination and relationship management; able to teach others
Builder Mentality : Entrepreneurial mindset, willing to share knowledge and contribute to firm growth
Ideal Candidate
5-15 years of practice experience (exceptional candidates outside this range will be considered)
Ontario licensed (LSO in good standing)
Residence in Ontario
for regulatory compliance
Experience in general practice or high-demand areas (family, real estate, wills & estates, corporate, etc.)
Track record of managing cases, clients, and contributing to firm growth
Existing book of business
with $120K-$150K annual billings
At a growth inflection point where current capacity is capping potential

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation structure : Performance-based revenue share tied to firm growth; retain 70% of personal billings; milestone-based bonuses; long-term equity opportunities
Total compensation : Substantially higher than current solo earnings as the firm scales
Growth trajectory : 40-60% total compensation growth within 18-24 months in similar roles
