Job Description

Position Title: Junior Counsellor, Camp Ridley THE CAMP RIDLEY DIFFERENCE Camp Ridley offers exceptional summer day and boarding camps for children and youth ages 4 to 17, welcoming both Canadian and international campers. Our programmes span art, science, athletics, leadership, and experiential learning, creating a summer filled with discovery, friendship, and fun—both inside and outside the classroom.

Rooted in Ridley College’s long-standing commitment to positive education, Camp Ridley focuses on building the fundamental life skills that help young people flourish. Our programmes intentionally support campers’ physical, creative, social, and interpersonal development in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

All camps are hosted on Ridley College’s beautiful 90-acre campus in the heart of the Niagara Region, featuring world-class facilities and a vibrant campus community. Our boarding camps offer a unique opportunity for campers to experience boarding life in a safe, supportive, and welcoming setting.

This posting is for an existing summer vacancy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Lead Counsellor in delivering engaging educational and recreational camp programming.

Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for campers and staff.

Supervise campers during activities and maintain appropriate behaviour and safety standards.

Model enthusiasm, good sportsmanship, and professionalism at all times.

Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Assist with attendance tracking and report accidents, incidents, or behavioural concerns to camp leadership as required.

Support daily camp operations, including maintaining supplies and materials.

Mandatory participation in Ridley CPR/AED training if not already certified.

Mandatory attendance at staff training sessions from June 20–22, 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with children in an educational or camp setting is an asset.

Responsible, caring, and empathetic approach to working with children.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to problem‑solve and take direction.

Physical ability to actively participate in camp activities.

Reliable, vigilant, and punctual.
