We are seeking an experienced
Controls Engineering Manager
to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced industrial automation and control systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, and electrical controls engineering initiatives to ensure operational efficiency, quality, and safety across production operations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in automation engineering, process control systems, and continuous improvement strategies, along with a proven track record of managing high-performing engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of controls engineers, electrical engineers, and automation technicians.
Oversee the design and implementation of PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
Direct development of HMI/SCADA applications for monitoring and optimizing manufacturing processes.
Manage control panel design, electrical schematics, and system integration projects.
Drive process automation improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and operations management.
Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee troubleshooting and root cause analysis for automation and control system issues.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships for capital equipment projects.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical field.
7+ years of experience in industrial controls engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
3+ years of experience in engineering management or supervisory role.
Strong proficiency in PLC programming, HMI configuration, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
Experience with VFDs, servo systems, motor controls, and industrial instrumentation.
Knowledge of UL standards, NFPA, and other relevant electrical safety regulations.
Demonstrated expertise in system integration, automation project management, and process optimization.
