Our Software Development team is expanding, and we’re seeking a Team Lead, Automation to drive technical excellence and team growth. You’ll lead automation initiatives that strengthen the quality, reliability, and impact of the life‑saving technology we build. Key Responsibilities

People & Team Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop a team of software and QA automation developers and through regular 1:1s, feedback, and performance reviews Foster a culture of accountability, psychological safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence Support hiring, onboarding, and team growth in partnership with leadership and People Operations Identify skill gaps and create development plans to grow technical and leadership capabilities Delivery & Execution

Own delivery outcomes for your team, ensuring commitments are met with high quality and predictable timelines Translate architecture and design into clear technical execution plans Balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term platform and architectural health Actively manage scope, risk, dependencies, and tradeoffs across initiatives Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight without being a bottleneck Ensure best practices in software design, code quality, testing, security, and reliability Partner with architects and senior and staff developers on system design and technical strategy Participate in technical decisions to ensure scalability and maintainability Process & Collaboration

Champion effective agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid) and continuous delivery Improve engineering processes, tooling, and metrics to increase team efficiency and transparency Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and leadership Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience 2+ years of experience managing or leading software development and or QA automation teams Strong understanding of modern software development practices and Experience delivering production systems in a cloud or distributed environment Proven ability to coach developers and manage performance constructively Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills About Blackline Safety
