Job Profile
Reporting to the Coordinator of IT Infrastructure, the Supervisor of IT Infrastructure supports innovation and continuous improvement of city services and processes through well-designed data and technologies.
The Supervisor Supports And Provides Technical Leadership To The Team To Enable Effective Service Delivery For Departments With a Quality Computing Environment Comprised Of Various Cloud, Third-party Hosted, And On-premise Infrastructure Services And Associated Environments Which May Include.
The supervisor supports the coordinator with strategic planning, financial management, and vendor relationship management for the branch. The supervisor actively collaborates with peers supporting other city services and departments for collaborative service delivery to shared customers.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop high performing teams and people.
Promote and evaluate team and individual performance against clear, measurable goals and objectives.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports.
Supervise IT Infrastructure service delivery.
Provide tactical and operational leadership in all aspects of services including requirements gathering, design, acquisition, provision, support, and evergreening.
Liaise with stakeholders to determine innovation and technology service requirements.
Oversee and execute procurement of goods and services, including special orders, through established contracts or by executing new contracts as required in compliance with regulations including Administrative Standards and trade agreements.
Plan and design IT Infrastructure Services.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of infrastructure and technologies and integrate that knowledge into the provision of new services to address current and future City needs. This includes
Network Automation/observability
Wide Area Network architecture including SD-WAN and controller operations
Data Centre Network design and operations including VXLAN/EXVPN-based networks
Corporate Internet connectivity
Network-based authentication
Cloud network integration and operations
Wired and Wireless Local Area Network operations
Network Security engineering for segmentation and Zero Trust
Application Load Balancing
Web Application and API Protection Security
Research, evaluate and recommend software and hardware.
Develop an understanding of client needs and appropriate technical solutions.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
Bachelorโs Degree in management, business, or technology-focused discipline or equivalent education and experience.
Five years of progressive experience in innovation or technology roles.
Experience leading, coaching, providing feedback, delegating, recruiting, and developing people is desired.
Experience with project management and change management methods, practices and procedures.
Financial management experience including financial planning, budgeting and financial monitoring is desired.
Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure service delivery.
Knowledge of modern information technology industry, trends, and applications.
Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write politically sensitive and confidential material for senior level staff.
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain staff morale, foster, develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with teams, partnerships and alliances.
Ability to create and promote a healthy and inclusive workplace culture.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and circumstances as well as the ability to work on diverse projects simultaneously.

Conditions Of Employment

*In accordance with Article 4, an employee who enters the bargaining unit on or after the date of ratification [October 29, 2020] shall be placed on Schedule A-2.
Employees of the bargaining unit who are on Schedule A-2 at the time of ratification will continue to be paid in accordance with Schedule A-2. Employees of the bargaining unit who are on Schedule A-1 at the time of ratification will continue to be paid in accordance with Schedule A-1 until they are the successful applicant to a position at a higher Administrative Salary Level (Grade) or they (or the Association on their behalf) initiate a successful reclassification to a higher Administrative Salary Level (Grade) in which case they will be placed on Schedule A-2 and subsequently follow article 25-2 (Position Evaluation - Treatment of Incumbents).
