Reporting to the Director of Finance, HR & IT, the Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring strong financial management, donor stewardship, and operational accountability across the organization. This position oversees day-to-day accounting operations, ensures compliance with non-profit reporting standards, and supports program teams with timely and transparent financial information. Ideal candidates bring a strong accounting foundation, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to supporting the financial health of a purpose-driven organization. Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with non-profit accounting standards (ASPE/ASNPO or IFRS as applicable). Oversee fund accounting, restricted grants, and contribution tracking. Support preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts. Support the annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors. Ensure compliance with CRA, payroll, and regulatory requirements. Accounting Operations

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger functions. Maintain a robust chart of accounts and ensure proper coding of expenses to programs, grants, and funding sources. Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations. Ensure efficient and accurate donor revenue recognition and grant reporting. Donor & Grant Support

Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds. Collaborate with development staff to ensure accurate recording of donations, pledges, and grant agreements. Provide timely financial reporting to funders, partners, and stakeholders. Leadership & Team Support

Supervise and mentor accounting/administrative staff. Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide financial guidance to program leaders and cross-functional teams. Systems & Process Improvement

Recommend improvement to financial policies, internal controls, and workflow efficiency. Support system upgrades, automation initiatives, and data integration projects. Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation (or near completion) preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; non-profit or fund accounting experience is an asset. Experience preparing for and managing annual audits. Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and fund accounting. Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and Excel. Experience in GP Dynamics is desirable.
