Job Description
Reporting to the Supervisor, Application Services, the Systems Analyst is responsible for the sustainment of a portfolio of business applications including monitoring system performance, managing application configurations, and ensuring system availability, reliability, and security compliance. This role will also require hands‑on experience related to system design, development, and implementation of vendor/cloud hosted and on‑premises solutions. The Systems Analyst will also work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate solution changes/updates.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support throughout a project lifecycle from planning to implementation, and operational handover.
Gather, document, and validate functional and technical requirements.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to configure, deploy, and integrate business applications.
Provide input into solution design such as system scalability, performance, integrations, and security to ensure it adheres to City and Technology standards.
Create and maintain system documentation, workflows, and procedures.
Provide Tier 2 application support, coordinating issue resolution with internal technical teams, and engaging third party maintenance and support vendors with escalation and follow‑up through to resolution.
Education and Experience
Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
Industry‑leading developer certifications and/or ITIL certification would be considered an asset.
3 to 5 years of progressive work experience with system support, application configuration/development, and solution implementation
Required Skills/Knowledge
Strong understanding of system integrations, web‑based and client/server enterprise‑level software, including a solid foundation in cloud and on‑premises architectures
Knowledge of cloud hosting platforms and infrastructure environments
Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools
Experience developing, testing, and maintaining RESTful and SOAP APIs and web service integrations using modern programming frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and scalability across enterprise systems.
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to deal with multiple competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Shows commitment to personal growth, development, and leadership opportunities.
Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated) and will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire.
On‑call/standby evenings and weekends are required - must be available to work evenings, flex shifts, extended hours and statutory holidays when required.
