Social Media & Digital Communications Specialist Organizational Description: We are a Non‑Governmental Organization (NGO) Not‑For‑Profit Canadian Charity based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our mandate is to bring evidence based best practice, advocacy and practical support for the creation and sustainability of housing that is equal and equitable for all.

Description of Duties: Equal Housing Initiative Inc. (EHI) is a Winnipeg‑based non‑profit organization dedicated to providing affordable and supportive housing solutions for vulnerable populations. Through projects such as transitional housing, supportive housing conversions, and wraparound support services, EHI works to address homelessness, housing insecurity, and social exclusion in our community.

To strengthen our outreach, fundraising, and community engagement efforts, EHI is seeking a Volunteer Social Media & Digital Communications Specialist. This individual will support the organization's online presence and digital storytelling initiatives.

This role can be performed remotely (work from home), with occasional in‑person meetings if required.

Volunteers would be responsible for:

Developing engaging content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.

Creating graphics, short videos, and visual content aligned with EHI's branding.

Writing compelling captions, stories, and impact posts highlighting EHI programs (e.g., transitional housing, nutrition programs, community partnerships).

Monitoring engagement.

Supporting digital campaigns for fundraising and events.

Assisting in maintaining website updates (if applicable).

Collaborating with the leadership team to ensure messaging aligns with organizational goals and funding requirements.

Skills Required:

Experience or education in social media marketing, digital communications, public relations, or related field.

Strong written communication skills.

Knowledge of social media platforms and content management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Canva, Buffer, etc.).

Basic graphic design and video editing skills are assets.

Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Respect for confidentiality and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
