Tax Director
โ Pomerleau, a national leader in construction, seeks a strategic tax professional to lead its tax function and advise senior management.
Responsibilities
Structure, lead, and evolve a robust tax function adapted to a complex environment.
Develop and implement the companyโs tax strategies.
Identify and execute tax planning opportunities.
Oversee tax compliance in Canada and the United States (filings, audits, disclosure obligations, preparation of tax memos related to transactions and tax planning).
Manage and coordinate the tax aspects of internal share ownership programs in collaboration with executive compensation and ownership management.
Act as a coach and mentor for tax and compliance professionals to support skill development and internal autonomy.
Anticipate needs, analyze, and manage risks related to the implementation and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements across entities, divisions, and projects.
Ensure the implementation of government practices and requirements related to taxable benefits and sales taxes, in collaboration with compensation and accounting teams.
Communicate and present the tax implications of ownership programs to shareholders, senior management, and employee shareholders.
Manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
Assess the tax impacts of investment, financing, and reorganization projects.
Monitor regulatory developments and anticipate tax changes.
Actively participate in special tax compliance mandates.
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance, the incumbent establishes the tax function, including overall strategy, compliance, planning optimization, and risk management for Canadian and U.S. operations, and acts as a tax advisor to senior management while collaborating with finance, legal, and operations teams.
Qualifications
Degree in taxation, or a bachelorโs degree in accounting, management, law, or business administration.
Masterโs degree in taxation, graduate diploma in taxation (D.Fisc. or D.E.S.S. Fisc.), or CPA InโDepth Tax Program (or equivalent program).
Professional accounting designation (CPA).
8โ10 years of relevant experience, ideally in managing and implementing a corporate tax function.
Experience in both Canadian and U.S. taxation, including a minimum of 3 years in a public accounting firm.
Strong adaptability in a fastโpaced and growing environment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic analysis skills.

Location: Greater Montreal Metropolitan Area. Salary: CA$105,000.00 โ CA$125,000.00.
