The Opportunity
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer / Project Manager who has the interest and drive to join our Ontario Bridge Team, to be based in either our London or Mississauga office. As a Senior Bridge Engineer / Project Manager, you’ll serve as a subject matter expert, lead multidisciplinary teams, influence strategic decisions, and ensure excellence on projects that define mobility for generations. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who can provide technical leadership in the design and delivery of transportation projects, including highway, transit, rail and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and unique structures. Duties will also include analysis, design, inspection, evaluation, cost estimating, tender document preparation and construction support. Your Impact
Lead technical delivery of projects related to transportation structures, including conceptual, preliminary, and detail design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other civil structures.
Oversee bridge inspections, assessments, rehabilitation design, quantities and construction cost estimates, review and validation of designs, drawings, and specifications, review of shop drawings and field reviews, and preparation of reports.
Oversee design schedules, budgets, and quality standards to ensure flawless execution.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic input and building long‑term relationships.
Drive proposal development and contribute to WSP’s “Future Ready” initiatives.
Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation to contribute to team development.
Lead the development and implementation of structural methodologies, standards, and innovation initiatives.
Represent WSP in industry associations, technical committees, and client engagements.
Drive thought leadership in structural engineering, contributing to publications, conferences, and strategic initiatives.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s or PhD preferred.
Professional Designation: Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
Experience: 10–20+ years of experience in bridge engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience within the transportation sector in Ontario, including 5 years of direct involvement in or managing pursuits/proposals for engineering design and/or construction services.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience leading MTO, municipal, and rail projects across Ontario including expertise in the planning, preliminary, and detail design, and construction of bridges and culverts of standard and complex geometry.
Proven experience with Design‑Build/P3 projects.
Working level knowledge of structural analysis software used in bridge design such as CSIBridge, MIDAS, etc.
Advanced knowledge of bridge design standards, codes, and manuals, including CAN/CSA‑S6.
Familiarity with MTO CPS/HICO, and BIM (assets).
Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expressions of Interest, and Statements of Qualifications.
Strong seller‑doer capable of generating work, creating long‑term relationships, and delivering long‑term value to clients for WSP with a strong commercial awareness.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100
|
MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800
|
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $122,100 – $162,200
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
