We are currently hiring for the position of:
Senior Director, Finance & Business Improvement
A senior leadership role responsible for strengthening organizational financial integrity, governance, and operational efficiency. This role provides deep technical accounting leadership while driving continuous improvement across financial systems, policies, processes, procurement, and enterprise risk management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Audit Management
Support the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for senior leadership and the Board.
Serve as the primary lead for the Annual Audit and Government Funding Audits, including the preparation and review of account reconciliations, analyses, and financial statements with notes.
Act as the technical accounting authority and policy owner, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal control frameworks.
Manage and project future cash flows to support organizational needs, including TIFF Lightbox and Festival operations.
Ensure compliance with all treasury and tax requirements.
Business Improvement & Operational Excellence
Direct process mapping, redesign, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
Serve as the financial lead on current and new system implementations (e.g., Netsuite, Ticketmaster), ensuring proper testing, internal control compliance, and accurate reporting.
Develop dashboards and performance metrics to monitor departmental and system performance.
Vendor Management & Procurement
Lead vendor governance and procurement strategy to drive cost optimization and purchasing efficiencies.
Standardize contracting and vendor performance management processes.
Oversee the organizational procurement process and ensure alignment with financial operating policies.
Insurance & Risk Management
Lead insurance strategy, including renewals and claims management.
Maintain the enterprise risk register and develop comprehensive mitigation plans to strengthen business resilience.
Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership
Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team through goal setting, professional development, coaching, and consistent feedback.
Partner with executives and cross-functional leaders to provide financial updates and strategic guidance.
Develop and manage the operating budget for the Finance department.
JOB GRADE & SALARY
Job Grade 6
Job Grade Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 Annually
Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the role. Typically, candidates new to the role are positioned up to the midpoint of the range, with progression through the range based on performance and development over time. The top of the salary band is for employees who consistently demonstrate high performance in their role.

Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
Weekly in-office requirements:
Minimum 2 days (November to April)
Minimum 3 days (May to October)
Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
CPA (CA, CGA, or CMA) designation or experience equivalency as determined by the CFO.
10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including external audit leadership.
Experience in technical accounting policy development and business transformation.
Process improvement or project management certification preferred.
Technical skills
Strong understanding of GAAP and proven proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis.
High level of integrity.
Detail oriented with strong financial and business analytical skills.
Ability to adapt to a fast paced, ever changing environment.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to communicate financial information to non financial managers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and Google Suite.
Working knowledge of Netsuite & Ticketmaster would be considered an asset.
