Position Overview Total Compensation Package: $110K-$140K dependent on experience.

Our client is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

Our client is a rapidly growing mid-s"ized construction firm that specializes in ICI, long-term care facilities, community centers, and affordable housing construction. The company has successfully developed long-term relationships with repeat clients, which has resulted in a consistent growth trend. The Health and Safety Manager with assistance from the Health and Safety Coordinator will ensure the implementation, maintenance and communication of the safety policies and procedures with employees, sub-trades, owners and consultants.

Responsibilities

Ensuring adherence to safety standards, including maintaining the IHSA Certificate of Recognition (COR).

Conducting internal safety assessments and coordinating external audits.

Compiling health and safety metrics and analyzing data for monthly safety reports.

Assisting Site Superintendents in ensuring project safety and compliance with legislative requirements.

Performing site inspections to verify compliance with the Health and Safety Management System Program and regulatory guidelines.

Serving on the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).

Providing guidance to team members on legislation, regulations, and the company's Health and Safety Management System Program.

Sustaining the Health and Safety Management System Program.

Developing and evaluating safe work practices, job procedures, and hazard analyses.

Maintaining hazard identification and risk assessments for the company and project sites.

Managing safety records and documentation.

Verifying documentation compliance for subcontractors before on-site activities.

Keeping Safety Data Sheets (SDS) files up to date for the company.

Monitoring training needs, assigning online training, and enrolling team members in external programs.

Assisting in incident investigations.

Assessing incidents and suggesting corrective and preventative actions, reporting to the President and team members.

Submitting WSIB claims and facilitating the return-to-work program for injured workers.

Undertaking additional tasks related to health and safety, as required.

Qualifications

Completion of a post-secondary education in an Occupational Health and Safety diploma program.

Familiarity with the IHSA COR program, with preference given to those who have completed COR auditor training.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial construction sector, with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.

Proficient computer skills, including the use of the MS Office suite of products.

Experience with digital safety programs such as SALUS and Site Docs is advantageous.

Willingness to engage in all required training.

Punctuality, attention to detail, organization, and reliability.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Proficient in English communication.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Comfort dealing with potentially challenging situations regarding site safety.

Knowledgeable about relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism while handling confidential information.

Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to travel within Southwestern Ontario.
