Development Director Ongoing

Time Commitment: 8–12 hours per week

Position Overview The Development Director leads the organization’s fundraising and revenue development strategy to ensure long-term sustainability and mission growth for IAABC Foundation. This role is responsible for cultivating donor relationships, expanding funding opportunities, and overseeing fundraising initiatives that support programs and organizational goals. The Development Director works closely with leadership, board members, and communications teams to strengthen donor engagement and increase philanthropic impact.

Key Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.

Establish clear annual fundraising goals and track progress toward targets.

Identify and pursue diverse revenue streams, including individual donors, grants, corporate sponsorships, and partnerships.

Donor Relations & Stewardship

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors and supporters.

Develop donor stewardship plans to increase retention and long-term engagement.

Oversee donor communications, recognition, and appreciation initiatives.

Grant Strategy & Campaign Leadership

Identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with the Foundation’s mission and strategic priorities.

Oversee grant proposal development, submission timelines, and compliance reporting for awarded grants.

Plan and lead fundraising campaigns and special initiatives in collaboration with the Communications team.

Ensure campaigns are strategically promoted and effectively executed across channels.

Support fundraising events (virtual and in-person, as applicable) to strengthen donor engagement.

Fundraising Systems & Performance Management

Establish and maintain clear fundraising processes, documentation standards, and tracking systems.

Utilize donor management systems to monitor contributions, engagement, and campaign outcomes.

Analyze fundraising data and trends to refine strategies and improve long-term sustainability.

Provide regular performance reports to leadership and the board, highlighting revenue progress, risks, and growth opportunities.

Leadership & Organizational Collaboration

Recruit, mentor, and support volunteers contributing to development initiatives.

Work closely with the Executive Director and board to advance fundraising priorities and support board engagement in development activities.

Foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization, encouraging shared ownership of fundraising success.

Maintain active participation in leadership meetings and ongoing communication via Slack.

Collaborate with Communications and Events teams to ensure alignment with branding, messaging, and fundraising activities.

Qualifications

Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field.

Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

Experience with donor databases and fundraising tools.

Knowledge of grant writing and reporting processes.

Strategic thinker with strong organizational abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or team-based environment.

Organized, proactive, and mission-driven.

Availability of 8–12 hours per week.

Stipend & Compensation This leadership role is supported by a monthly stipend of $1,000 in recognition of the strategic contributions and time commitment required. The stipend is provided as independent contractor compensation for services performed and is contingent on meeting role expectations and organizational capacity.
