BNV Recruiting is representing a Fintech company that is hiring a

Senior Backend Engineer

to design, build, and own high-volume Email & SMS infrastructure used as a core revenue channel. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy infrastructure, scale, and real-world reliability problems rather than CRUD features.

You’ll work on systems that send hundreds of millions of messages per year, dealing with deliverability, spam filtering, IP reputation, and provider constraints across multiple geographies and domains. This is a

high-ownership role

embedded in an experienced engineering and product team, with direct influence over architecture and technical decisions.

What You’ll Do

Design and build email & SMS delivery infrastructure from the ground up

Own deliverability end-to-end: inbox placement, spam filtering, bounce handling, IP reputation

Build monitoring and observability for send rates, bounces, complaints, and failures

Integrate email, SMS, and automation workflows into a broader marketing platform

Manage and optimize ESP/SMS vendor integrations (e.g. SendGrid, Postmark, Twilio)

Migrate beyond third-party tools toward more proprietary, flexible solutions

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of backend engineering experience

Experience building and operating high-volume, reliability-critical systems

Strong understanding of email deliverability concepts (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, IP warming)

Experience integrating with third-party APIs and vendors

Comfort working in a serverless / cloud-native environment

Solid database experience (Postgres or similar)

Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership in a small team

Nice to have

Background in messaging systems, event-driven architectures, or platform engineering

Familiarity with Customer.io, SendGrid, Postmark, Twilio, or similar tools
