Reporting to the Vice President, Development, the Director, Development Services and Operations leads and oversees the fundraising services and operations of The Royal Conservatory’s (RCM) Development department. This role manages programs and the staff who are tasked with responsibilities related to fundraising activities in finance and gift administration; data, information management, reporting and online systems; prospect management and research; writing and communications; and office management and administration. The Director, Development Services and Operations also works closely with other senior leaders inside and outside of the department, and maintains a close day-to-day working relationship with the RCM’s Finance, Human Resources and IT departments. Main Duties & Responsibilities

Finance and Gift Administration Acts as the chief liaison and controller between Development and Finance to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with corporate policies and procedures Serves as authority on CRA and RCM gift acceptance policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance and maintenance of professional standards Supervises the processing and handling of donations and tax receipts including the acceptance of gifts of securities Oversees the operation and maintenance of online donation systems and relationships with their suppliers Manages the creation of donor agreements and related documents Ensures expenses and revenue are tracked accurately and in a timely fashion Works cooperatively with Finance in responding to requests for information and providing financial reports and analysis Leads the annual business planning and budgeting processes including goal-setting and forecasting for Development Oversees the department’s expenses and payment of suppliers and vendors Data, Information Management, Reporting and Online Systems Oversees all aspects of the fundraising database to ensure accurate operational tracking and reporting, and report development and preparation Tracks performance standards for data management against established benchmarks and goals Develops appropriate controls and processes to maintain the integrity of the database Ensures the database is kept current and donor information is effectively captured and recorded Implements industry best practices in determining data architecture, coding, business rules and procedures Oversees data extraction and the production of lists, mailings and data pulls Liaises with suppliers regarding projects and work related to the database Trains development team on current database usage as well as new functionalities introduced to the system Establishes the systems and processes for storing and maintaining electronic records and hard copy files Fulfills compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) Collaborates with Information Technology and other departments with respect to access to databases outside of Development to support the fundraising activities of the department for the purposes of mailings, communications, analysis, and prospect development Prospect Management and Research Oversees the strategies, functions and processes related to prospect management and research Writing and Communications Supervises and sets the work priorities of the Senior Manager, Development Communications, implementing systems to ensure projects and related writing deliverables are tracked and fulfilled Oversees the functions and processes related to writing and communications within the department such as: Funding proposals and requests for support Fundraising communications materials such as: cases for support; brochures; pamphlets; letters and emails; acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders; speeches and remarks; direct mail pieces; stewardship reports, web site content; briefs and any other communications material Office Management and Administration Oversees office management and serves as the department resource and liaison for recruitment, work space improvements, and issues pertaining to Human Resources, Facilities, and IT Performs other related duties as assigned. What We're Looking For

7 – 10 years of progressive experience in financial, personnel, and information system management Expert knowledge of the charitable sector and Canada Revenue Agency rules and guidelines Strong knowledge of technology and computer systems including advanced Raiser’s Edge experience and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) Effective leadership and supervisory skills, and operations accountability Superior knowledge and understanding of fundraising practices, accounting principles and payment processing Experience with budgeting, reporting and analysis/projection activities Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines Detail oriented with an ability to evaluate and respond to changing priorities Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style and effective writing and communication abilities Ability to take initiative and work relatively independently Strong problem-solving abilities Salary Range

$120,000 - $130,000 per annum Additional Information

Hybrid work arrangement, working on-site at least 3 days a week This role has three (3) direct reports: Senior Manager, Development Communications; Manager, Gift and Database Administration; and Prospect Research and Management Officer Standard office environment with extended periods of sitting and computer use Must be available to occasionally work evenings and weekends as required for donor events, concerts and meetings This opportunity is for a current vacancy AI Disclosure: AI is not being used to screen, assess, or select applicants How to Apply
