Our client is a Canadian, privately‑owned consumer goods manufacturing company that is urgently seeking an Interim CFO to 1) oversee financial controls and accounting, 2) implement change measures to improve the function, and 3) work closely with the CEO as a strategic thought partner to grow the business. In addition to having a transformational skill‑set with high EQ and people‑leadership capacity, the ideal candidate will have comfort rolling up their sleeves to help diagnose issues and contribute to daily finance deliverables. They will ultimately build a sophisticated finance team with strong internal controls, reporting mechanisms, systems, and audit process. The interim leader, if successful, will be considered for the permanent position.

Key Accountabilities:

Conduct a thorough evaluation and assessment, plan the future state of the finance function and lead the execution of all changes;

Partner closely with the CEO and ensure a deep understanding of the drivers of profitability for the company and take ownership for the achievement of financial targets;

Provide guidance and coaching support to the finance team during a time of change;

Support, evaluate and make recommendations on opportunities to eliminate redundancies and develop core processes and systems across the company;

Oversee P&L management, planning, analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, treasury, risk management, M&A activity;

Develop the reporting infrastructure to measure and track performance, question assumptions, provide insight and analysis, and ensure decisions are based on sound financial criteria. Drive fact‑based decision‑making;

Lead process automation and systems improvements to support scale and efficiency;

Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, with full accountability for shaping and executing the company’s financial direction to support profitable growth and long‑term value creation;

Help shape commercial strategies that optimize pricing, cost structures, and partnerships;

Lead the development of robust financial models and implement advanced performance management tools;

Oversee investment planning, pricing policy modernization, and capital allocation processes;

Ensure all practices align with industry‑leading governance, controls, and regulatory standards;

Partner across departments to implement tools and practices that improve forecasting, profitability analysis, and cash flow performance;

Support internal and external audits and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions;

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of 10 years in progressive financial leadership roles, including at least three years as Head of Finance;

Experience in private equity‑backed, manufacturing, or contract services businesses preferred;

Strong knowledge of international financial reporting standards and global compliance frameworks;

Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) is required; an MBA or Master’s degree is an asset;

Track record of driving transformation, supporting growth, and managing complexity in a dynamic environment;

Developed high performing finance teams within a growth/transformative setting;

Demonstrated success at building teams and creating followership;

Proven partner in the executive leadership group with a reputation as a “doer” working alongside his/her team within the business;

High integrity, strong executive presence, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills; an agile, commercially‑minded leader who can drive change and influence outcomes across the organization;

Superior analytical skills. Has demonstrated the ability to be a quick study in coming to understand the business and its triggers or leverage points. Brings an inquisitive mind and intellectual curiosity;

Collaborative. A true team player who can actively contribute as a member of the senior executive team;
