Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Educational Space Planning plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of JIBC's learning environments by ensuring our campuses are dynamic, innovative, and equipped to support exceptional academic delivery and long-term institutional growth. This strategic and highly collaborative position leads the planning and optimization of educational spaces — classrooms, simulation labs, and offices — by aligning space use, technology integration, and operational needs with the Institute's priorities. The Senior Manager provides expert analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment to guide decision‑making, contributes to exciting new program and project proposals, and drives forward‑thinking space optimization initiatives that enhance teaching and learning experiences.
As a key member of the Education Services leadership team, this role strengthens cross‑institutional partnerships, modernizes business processes, and champions a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The Senior Manager also leads a talented team by fostering a supportive, collaborative, and growth‑oriented work environment grounded in service excellence and people‑focused leadership. Working closely with leaders and staff across JIBC, the position influences campus‑wide planning practices, represents the division on internal and external committees, and stays ahead of emerging trends to ensure JIBC remains agile and future‑ready. The role also oversees budgeting and financial planning for the portfolio and supports organizational resilience through academic business continuity planning.

Qualifications & Requirements
Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Education, or other relevant field.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum five (5) years' experience in progressive levels of responsibility, including leadership roles in educational space planning and management, preferably in a post‑secondary environment.
Advanced knowledge of operational management, preferably with additional expertise in LEAN methodologies, project management.
Advanced knowledge of pertinent software and hardware, including space management and project management.
Advanced strategic project and financial planning skills with the ability to facilitate development of operation and capital plans and related budgets.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and sustain relationships, develop rapport with internal and external interested parties, and work effectively with personnel at all levels.
Advanced people leadership skills with ability to build and manage teams across diverse functions in a unionized, public‑sector environment.
