Senior Software Engineer, Employee Experience (Hybrid)
Join Homebase to help small businesses thrive by building empathy‑driven fintech and AI‑driven products that simplify payroll, benefits, and employee experiences. As part of the Employee Experience team, you’ll shape the future of how hourly workers manage their pay and benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable Ruby on Rails services that power payroll, pay access, and employee‑facing experiences.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver fintech and AI‑driven features that improve day‑to‑day life for small business teams.
Implement clean, testable, and maintainable code using modern development best practices.
Experiment with AI and automation to enhance performance, personalization, and operational efficiency.
Support continuous delivery and observability for production systems that serve millions of hourly workers.
Contribute to Homebase’s engineering culture by mentoring, sharing knowledge, and improving shipping quality.
Role Overview
3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, RESTful APIs, and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
Preferred: Experience in FinTech, payroll, or payments systems.
Familiarity with AI tools, APIs, or frameworks (OpenAI, LangChain, or similar).
Growth mindset and bias to action – you learn fast, iterate faster, and bring curiosity to every sprint.
