Medical Science Liaison – Rheumatology (Western Ontario & Manitoba, Canada)

Overview
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a key field‑based scientific partner to healthcare providers, key opinion leaders (KOLs) and internal UCB colleagues. The role executes medical strategies to enhance patient outcomes in chronic inflammatory diseases.
Responsibilities
Maintain deep scientific knowledge in Immunology, preferably Rheumatology.
Establish and sustain relationships with KOLs, clinical specialists and researchers; conduct scientific exchanges.
Deliver clinical value propositions and engage decision‑makers in medical groups, IDNs and regional payers.
Support research expansion projects, collaborations and educational partnerships.
Conduct local roundtables and education programs to enhance KOL understanding of unmet clinical needs.
Serve as a scientific expert at conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings and internal meetings.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to provide medical insights and expertise.
Review and critique scientific publications to inform healthcare trends.
Collect, analyze and communicate information concerning therapeutic areas, emerging standards of care and competitive intelligence.
Address medical information inquiries and provide clinical presentations to internal and external audiences.
Support UCB clinical investigations and assess feasibility; act as primary liaison for unsolicited Investigator‑Initiated Studies (IISs).
Provide field updates for Standard Response Letters.
Operate at the highest level of UCB compliance and professional standards.
Qualifications
Doctorate degree (PharmD, MD, DO or PhD in a relevant field).
2+ years of experience as an MSL required; 5+ years preferred.
Prior experience within immunology, specifically rheumatology or dermatology strongly preferred.
Clear articulation of complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings.
Basic business acumen with solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
Basic knowledge of health economic principles and clinical trials.
Extensive travel (up to 75%) required, including overnights and some weekends.
Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 2 years.
Must reside within the assigned territory.
Salary Range
Base salary range: $125,200 – $164,325 (actual offer based on experience, location and other factors).
