Finance and Insurance Wealthsimple

Job Description

Build something people love Wealthsimple

is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing and expensive and make them transparent and low‑cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with 3+ million users who trust us with more than $100 billion in assets, and we’re just getting started.

We’re looking for someone who thinks big, sweats the small stuff, and keeps things simple. You’ll join a high‑bar, fast‑paced team where people are trusted to own their work, communicate openly, and ship things that improve our clients’ lives. Collaboration, humility, and an obsession over quality are how we get stuff done.

Role Overview As a Manager, Treasury Capital Markets, you will work as a strategic partner within the Treasury team and interact directly with banking partners, lenders, investors, fintechs, capital markets counterparts, and key functional leaders to support Treasury initiatives and product launches. As a trusted advisor, you will provide advice and collaborate with leaders in product, operations, trading, finance, legal, regulatory & compliance to find creative solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities

Lead strategic negotiations with banks, fintechs, and capital markets counterparties to support Treasury initiatives and Wealthsimple's product ecosystem.

Build and scale strategic partnerships to unlock new product capabilities and accelerate growth.

Manage Wealthsimple’s Treasury investment portfolio: propose investment plans, execute strategy, and monitor performance.

Identify and manage corporate foreign currency, interest rate, and equity exposure, including trade execution.

Propose and implement hedging strategies and work with the controller team to ensure proper accounting treatment.

Maintain and enhance Investment Policy and Market Risk Management Policy.

Drive negotiations to expand partnerships supporting Wealthsimple products.

Responsible for deposit capacity management and seek opportunities beyond the industry status quo.

Leverage your professional network to create strategic alliances that give Wealthsimple a competitive edge.

Partner cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Regulatory and Legal teams to enable seamless product launches.

Build best‑in‑class capital markets capabilities to delight clients.

Qualifications

7+ years of Treasury and Capital Markets experience with direct external counterparty negotiation and engagement.

Exceptional relationship‑building and management skills, able to open doors, build trust, and turn conversations into partnerships.

Demonstrated success launching new products and/or capabilities from scratch in fast‑paced settings, especially with an external partner.

Prior experience in Canada and US liquidity regulations, bank FTP, and negotiating ISDA’s is a strong asset.

Strong knowledge of capital markets products and transactions with the ability to structure creative solutions for complex problems.

Deep understanding of Treasury investment portfolio management, foreign currency, interest rate, and equity market risk management.

A passion for technology, specifically fintech.

Outstanding communication skills—able to translate complex Treasury concepts into clear narratives for a non‑Treasury audience.

Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable operating in ambiguity, and building as you go.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and bias for action.

Compensation & Equity Base salary range (Canada): CAD $116 000 – $145 000, based on skills, experience, and role level. Exceptional candidates may be considered above the top of the range. In addition to base salary, the role includes equity compensation. Wealthsimple uses clear job levels and market‑based salary bands to ensure fair and consistent compensation.
