Manager, Compensation Governance and Compliance - Global HR

The Manager contributes to the overall success of the governance and compliance of compensation for the Bank globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
Manage the end-to-end delivery of the Human Capital and Compensation Committee of the Board’s (HCOB’s) agenda and process including ensuring execution of the annual work plan, coordination of material preparation, management of timelines and input from multiple sources, co-ordination of executive reviews, etc. in support of the HCOB’s mandate. This includes developing and implementing continuous process improvement initiatives and troubleshooting issues, updating HCOB-related procedures, assisting with drafting cover memos and resolutions, organizing and storage of HCOB materials, and collaborating with local HR to support the HCOB’s discharge of local requirements as the overarching remuneration committee for Scotiabank
Partake in peer-reviews of material submitted to HCOB
Partner extensively with Corporate Secretary department to prepare and review HCOB’s agenda and timeline
Occasionally assists with preparation of material for other committees (e.g., Risk Committee)
Manage the Diligent Board portal to ensure attestations, device authorizations and access management is in place to ensure governance of confidential information in keeping the Bank safe
Support the Bank’s compliance with remuneration-related regulations globally, including monitoring governance and regulatory developments, gathering documents in support of internal and external audits and compliance testing, and researching remuneration-related legislation and regulations and its application to Scotiabank programs
Assist in the development of the Bank’s response to shareholder and regulatory compensation-related requests and with preparation of related disclosure, reports and filings (e.g., compensation of material risk employees, Pillar 3 reports, portions of the Management Proxy Circular, etc.) by gathering documents and preparing evidence to back up the Bank’s reporting, such as for compensation tables related to spend and payouts for material risk employees
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
3 to 5+ years of compensation experience, which may include executive and regulatory compensation, compensation governance & disclosure
Regular interactions with other managers, directors and executives
Materials are reviewed by Bank executives, board members and regulators, so must be prepared to an “executive ready” standard
Strong organization skills and attention to detail is critical
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
