Vancouver In-Office Hybrid (3 days onsite/2 remote), or open to Calgary (remote)

Introduction Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the primary responsibility of the Engineering Manager is to be responsible for all technical decisions and managing the technical reviews with all necessary stakeholders.

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative professional to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of a major capital project. As an Engineering Manager, this leader will oversee all technical decision‑making, guide multidisciplinary engineering activities, and ensure seamless coordination between consultants, internal stakeholders, and operational teams. This is an opportunity to influence project outcomes at every stage—driving technical excellence, ensuring design integrity, and supporting the transition from feasibility through execution.

This role will require to travel to Site once per month (expenses billable).

Responsibilities

Approving the Scope of Work (SOW) for consultant requests for proposal (RFP) or notices of change or change directives.

Managing the review process for technical documents and ensure they are reviewed and returned to the consultant in a timely manner.

Attending internal weekly project update meetings.

Attending consultant led weekly project update meetings.

Coordinating with Project Group's Engineering Manager and Site Operational Readiness to ensure the requirements of the following departments are understood:

Health and Safety

Occupational Hygiene

Risk and FM Global

Maintenance

Operations

Responding to and closing out all technical actions on consultants needs/issues lists and internal action log. Documenting conditions of satisfaction required to close out technical issues and making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities, including coordinating engineering work between multiple consultants.

Reviewing consultants weekly and monthly reports, mitigate any negative trends, both schedule and budget.

Managing value engineering and constructability.

Directing, reviewing, and approving product design and changes.

Interpreting the technical requirements of the design documents to provide clear understanding and proper implementation of requirements.

Developing the engineering management plan feasibility study deliverable as part of the project execution plan, for the next execution stage.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline).

P.Eng designation (or eligibility for registration) with a Canadian provincial engineering association.

PMP certification or equivalent project management training considered an asset.

10+ years direct work experience in engineering and project management capacity, including all aspects of engineering, permitting, and construction; experience in the mining industry, or other heavy industrial sector an asset

Eligible for, or working towards, registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia

Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing external engineering consultants.

Demonstrated success overseeing technical reviews, design coordination, and engineering governance.

Background in mining, energy, heavy industrial, or complex infrastructure projects is preferred.
