Position Overview
This posting is to fill a 1‑year full‑time (75 hours bi‑weekly) term position with the anticipation of a permanent opportunity. Temporary assignments will be accepted with advanced supervisor approval.
Who we are
The French Language Services Directorate (FLSD) is a team of twenty‑five client‑focused professionals dedicated to empowering departments to serve and inform Yukoners in French. We foster strong partnerships with other departments and stakeholders, provide strategic advice rooted in language policy and planning, and offer centralized services such as translation and language support.
The Bilingual Communications Division supports government employees in informing, engaging with and promoting bilingual services to the public. We provide centralized translation services and manage government‑wide social media channels and web presence in French.
The opportunity
The Bilingual Communications Branch is seeking a strategic leader to empower, inspire and supervise a team of five communications professionals. This team supports client departments and FLSD units in achieving their bilingual communications objectives. A key part of this role is providing leadership and expert advice on high‑profile and sensitive projects, many of which have multi‑departmental or government‑wide impacts.

Essential Qualifications
Completion of post‑secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field
Experience supervising or managing a team, including providing guidance, mentoring, performance management, and delegating tasks effectively
Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
Experience providing communications or strategic advice
Asset Qualifications
Experience handling high‑profile or sensitive projects that require a strategic approach
Experience leading cross‑functional teams or coordinating work across multiple departments or stakeholders
Experience in communications functions within a government setting
