Role Overview
As a Principal Consultant located at our Toronto or Vancouver office, you will assume a critical role within AMC’s Business Transformation team by leading high-impact consulting projects. Your duties will encompass managing and delivering complex assignments—including mine optimization and operational excellence initiatives—while independently driving projects that advance client outcomes. With a strategic approach, you will support AMC’s market growth throughout North America by cultivating strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and participating actively in industry networks. In addition to project management, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, promote their development, and collaborate with AMC’s multidisciplinary professionals to design innovative solutions. Your proven expertise in consulting will be essential for developing and executing strategies that enhance client operations, delivering measurable improvements in performance and profitability.

Salary
C$190,000 – $210,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
Skills And Competencies
Core functions
Manage and deliver consulting assignments, serving as Project Manager when necessary.
Complete technical tasks within established timeframes and budget limits.
Provide guidance, supervision, and support to junior staff and consultants.
Develop and maintain client relationships to support AMC’s brand and portfolio.
Generate and oversee an individual portfolio of consulting assignments (target: 60% self-sourced).
Review colleagues’ work and participate in internal knowledge-sharing activities.
Adhere to AMC’s risk management, health, safety, and quality assurance policies.
Ensure project documentation and client communications are current and accurate.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities and proficiency in fostering team collaboration.
Skilled in managing multiple priorities and consistently delivering high-quality results under demanding conditions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with established experience negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications And Experience
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
A minimum of 16 years of industry experience, including recognised expertise in at least one primary area.
Extensive management consulting experience, with a comprehensive background in both project management and consulting across diverse settings.
A proven record of success in business development, technical paper authorship, and client relationship management.
Advanced proficiency in relevant industry software and outstanding report writing capabilities.
Thorough knowledge of all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial concept through to execution.
Demonstrated experience in supervising, mentoring, and developing technical personnel.
