JOB SUMMARY
The Intermediate Structural Façade Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support through estimation, shop drawings, and installation. This role is responsible for independently supporting mainly medium sized construction projects and acts in supporting role for larger and more complex projects. This position makes decisions independently related to projects with typical conditions and generally works with limited supervision and provides technical guidance to junior engineers. This position will seek guidance on more complex decisions from more senior members of the Engineering team.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Function-Specific Responsibilities
Engineering review on projects throughout different stages: preliminary design, shop drawing and Installation
Perform all work complying with Canadian, US codes and industrial standards.
Prepare engineering calculations of different components: aluminum, glass, metal panel, stone, steel, connection, concrete, insert etc.
Prepare building envelope thermal / condensation analysis and report per code and specification is an asset
Develop sketches and provides engineering support/input to drafting and design department.
Site review to ensure compliance with engineered shop drawings and prepare reports.
Provides training, technical guidance and coaching to junior engineering staff
Reviews and inspects work of junior engineers and EIT’s
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in structural/civil engineering.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in façade engineering.
Experience with structural/thermal analysis software, Microsoft and AutoCAD, THERM.
Experience in managing multi projects and delivering on time.
Skills
Leadership/strong interpersonal skills to work in and across departments.
Creativity to innovate and improve design (with approval).
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of structural analysis software, Microsoft and AutoCAD
Ability to multitask and time management skills to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter and a team player.
Flexibility to travel locally and nationally. Valid driver’s license.
