Job Description

This application is to be on the School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) Teacher Teaching On Call (TTOC) list for the 2026-2027 school year. ELIGIBILITY NOTICE - RENEWAL APPLICANTS ONLY

This posting is

only for returning Teachers Teaching on Call (TTOCs)

who have

completed more than two (2) consecutive years of active TTOC service with School District No. 8

and are seeking renewal for the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants who do not meet this eligibility requirement will not be considered through this posting. Teachers Teaching on Call i n their first or second year

of service with SD8, as well as

new applicants , should

not apply

to this posting. A

separate posting for these applicants will be released in Spring 2026 .

RENEWAL APPLICANTS Returning Teachers Teaching on Call are invited to re-apply annually to remain active on the School District No. 8 TTOC list. While re-application is encouraged,

submission of an application does not guarantee continued placement

on the TTOC list. Re-applications are reviewed to ensure ongoing alignment with

current district expectations, instructional practices, and approaches to teaching and learning . All returning TTOCs are required to attend an

annual onboarding session

in order to be active on the TTOC list. Returning TTOCs are

not required to re-submit credentials or qualifications

already on file. To support an efficient and current renewal process, applicants are required to ensure their

Make a Future profile includes :

an

updated resume

reflecting recent teaching activity; and

at least

two current professional references

with contact information.

Additional documentation (e.g., transcripts, certificates, evaluations) is

not required

unless specifically requested by Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS Required Qualifications All applicants must:

Hold a valid

BC Teaching Certificate

issued by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch, with fees paid and certificate active for the applicable school year

Hold a

Bachelor of Education

(minimum), with at least one recognized teaching major, area, or focus.

Professional Practice Expectations All applicants must demonstrate the ability to:

Work collaboratively and positively in support of District goals.

Travel within assigned Families of Schools, sometimes on short notice and in adverse weather conditions.

Teach K-12 curriculum using the BC curriculum framework, including

Big Ideas, Curricular Competencies, and Content Learning Standards , within a Know-Do-Understand context.

Integrate curriculum concepts into classroom practice across grade levels.

Apply current assessment principles, including

assessment for, as, and of learning , to guide instructional decision-making.

Use educational technology (e.g.,

MyEdBC ) for attendance, communication, and reporting.

Implement effective classroom management strategies that respect and support all learners.

Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Incorporate Indigenous perspectives and Indigenize curriculum in respectful and meaningful ways.

Apply inclusive practices that ensure the participation and success of all learners. Preference May Be Given to Applicants Who:

Have recent, successful teaching experience in identified subject areas and/or grade levels.

Have training or experience in quality assessment practices, including differentiated instruction and criterion-referenced assessment.

Classification, Call-Out, and Engagement Expectations Teaching classifications will be based on

academic qualifications and recent demonstrated successful teaching experience . Applicants may be required to provide verification of certification or teaching experience related to the subject areas or grade levels indicated.

The Districtโ€™s call-out system is

SmartFindExpress (SFE) . Applicants who are placed on the TTOC list will be required to establish and maintain an SFE profile and indicate availability.

Applicants must be prepared to

actively teach

on the SD8 Teacher Teaching on Call list during the

2026-2027 school year . Limited engagement may affect recall eligibility in subsequent years.

The daily pay range for Teachers Teaching on Call is

$318.50 to $525.38 , with placement based on experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
