What You’ll Be Doing
As a member of the Personal and Business Banking Team, the Senior Director, Financial Planning and Advice will be responsible for providing highly effective leadership and mentoring to the regional team of Financial Planning Consultants, and working alongside the Director, Financial Planning & Advice who leads a team of Investment Specialists. You’ll focus on the accumulation and preservation of high‑value clients’ wealth and ensure clients have valuable, nurtured partnerships with other CIBC advisors. In this role, you’ll ensure the Financial Planning Team adheres to regulatory requirements, compliance guidelines, and internal strategies and policies to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. You’ll motivate the Regional Financial Planning team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and business mix targets, and as a member of the senior management team, you’ll significantly contribute to the long‑term strategic vision and management of CIBC Financial Planning at a regional and national level.
How You’ll Succeed
People Leadership – Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values. Assign work, manage performance, and provide fair, accurate feedback. Identify obstacles that hinder performance and coach to align with business priorities. Arrange professional development to increase the sales team’s industry and product knowledge, and proactively build a strong talent pipeline.
Results Driven Leadership – Develop and manage relationships with all relevant CIBC partner groups such as Personal & Small Business Banking, Private Wealth Management, Wealth Management, Commercial & Investment Banking, and Wealth Strategies. Monitor that Financial Planning Consultants’ advice aligns with CIBC’s integrated offer. Work with leadership to develop market business plans, regional targets, conduct assessments, analyze productivity, and implement action plans. Ensure effective management of operating expenses and project funding.
Financial Planning and Compliance Expertise – Ensure the sales team adheres to regulatory requirements, compliance guidelines, and internal policies. Maintain awareness of existing and impending policies and legislation, participate in developing compliance guidelines, and review compensation plans with national office. Share best practices and expertise on financial planning with the team and partner groups, applying knowledge of the financial planning landscape to strategize and interpret complex concepts.
Who You Are
Extensive financial industry knowledge, including investment solutions, financial markets, and economic factors affecting personal financial planning decisions; expert knowledge of CIBC investment solutions and proficiency in financial planning tools.
A bold and authentic leader with experience leading an advisory team responsible for investment advice and sales.
A certified investment professional with CFP and/or PFP certification.
A strong communicator who can convey factual and conceptual information requiring detailed explanation and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
Influential relationship builder capable of establishing productive relationships and influencing stakeholders from varied backgrounds.
