Senior Project Manager

to join our team — an experienced professional who combines technical expertise with leadership and a client‑focused mindset.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will report to the Senior Team, overseeing and leading the planning, execution, and successful completion of projects in our core sectors, including Academic, Commercial, and Science & Healthcare—throughout the Greater Toronto Area. You will be responsible for overall project performance, including costs, scheduling, quality control, and communication status. You will ensure projects align with client priorities and organizational objectives while managing resources, timelines, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Representation

Act as a Champion of

The Dalton Company , promoting our values and reputation internally and externally.

Lead and mentor project teams, supporting the development of junior project managers and staff.

Project Planning & Execution

Develop, recommend, and implement comprehensive project plans, schedules, and reporting structures.

Ensure all projects are executed in alignment with design intent, budget parameters, and established timelines.

Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, trade contractors, building authorities, and regulatory agencies.

Lead all project‑level meetings, ensuring communication is clear, timely, and solution‑oriented.

Contract, Cost & Schedule Management

Establish project reporting procedures, including cost reporting, labour/material tracking, and document controls.

Provide accurate and timely performance status reports related to cost forecasts, schedules, and safety.

Understand and enforce all contractual obligations; proactively resolve disputes and manage claims or claim avoidance strategies.

Review, negotiate, and administer subcontracts and major purchase orders.

Conduct trade contractor buyouts and monitor trade contractor performance.

Change, Risk & Quality Management

Identify required or potential scope changes; negotiate and process change orders, assessing cost and schedule impacts.

Prepare and verify progress payments for owners and trade contractors.

Develop and uphold project‑specific quality control plans; establish site action teams when necessary.

Closeout & Compliance

Lead all aspects of project closeout, including documentation archiving, manual preparation, deficiency resolution, and warranty management.

Ensure all safety policies are rigorously implemented at the project level.

Liaise with building authorities and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Perform additional duties as required to support corporate and business unit objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum

10 years

of progressive experience in construction project management.

Post‑secondary degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.

P.Eng.

and/or

LEED

accreditation considered an asset.

PMP

or similar project management certification is an advantage.

Strong understanding of construction management disciplines—including safety, scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance.

Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, permits, and blueprints with precision.

In‑depth knowledge of the

Ontario Building Code

and

Ontario Health and Safety Act .

Valid

G‑Class

driver’s licence with willingness to travel across the GTA.

Skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent organizational, planning, and management skills, with the ability to mentor, coach, and supervise junior project managers and other members of the project team(s).

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment while balancing competing priorities.

Technology

Strong proficiency in MS Project and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook) required.

Experience with Procore or other construction management software and tools is an asset.

Experience with Zoho CRM is an asset.

Ability to interpret completed building models and drawings using Revit software (preferred but not required).
