Job Description
The Chamber of Shipping represents the marine industry operating on the West Coast and works to advance a safe, competitive, and environmentally responsible shipping sector. We are seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Policy Analyst to support our environmental policy and government relations work.
Position Overview
Support policy analysis and regulatory monitoring affecting the marine sector
Assist with government relations and advocacy activities
Provide research, coordination, and administrative support to senior leadership
Works under the direction of the Director of Operations and closely with our Community Engagement Liaison
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and summarize environmental regulations and other policy initiatives (federal, provincial, international) as required
Prepare briefing notes, policy summaries, and background research
Support drafting of consultation responses and advocacy materials
Maintain regulatory calendars, policy files, and document repositories
Draft member updates related to environmental and regulatory issues
Track meetings, follow‑ups, and stakeholder engagement activities
Qualifications
Degree in environmental policy, public policy, sustainability, marine studies, or related field
1–5 years of experience in policy, regulatory, or government‑related roles
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to organize information and manage administrative tasks
Interest in environmental regulation and marine transportation
