Senior Project Director (Health Technology Portfolio)

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Director to lead the strategic coordination and oversight of a complex, multi-year digital health modernization portfolio. This is a senior leadership role responsible for aligning clinical, technical, and business objectives across several interdependent, enterprise-scale eHealth initiatives.
You will act as the central integration point, providing direction on portfolio planning, vendor management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure seamless delivery and alignment with provincial health strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Leadership:
Direct senior oversight across major initiatives including Electronic Referral Solutions (ERS), EMR Strategy & Integration, and EHR modernization.
Strategic Planning:
Develop long-term roadmaps, provide input on policy and investment, and ensure solution design supports interoperability and clinical adoption.
Vendor & Contract Management:
Lead the negotiation and management of
complex, multi-vendor IT contracts (valued at $500K+)
, ensuring performance, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Facilitate working groups and steering committees with senior clinical leaders, regulatory bodies, and government partners.
Governance & Reporting:
Prepare executive briefings and oversee reporting on status, risks, and interdependencies for large, multi-year initiatives.
Must-Have Qualifications & Experience:
10+ years
of senior leadership experience governing large, multi-year projects or portfolios, including developing roadmaps and business cases for executive approval.
10+ years
of demonstrated experience directly leading the negotiation and management of
complex, multi-vendor IT solutions at a provincial or enterprise scale , with accountability for contract value exceeding $500,000.
8+ years
of experience in the strategic planning of
provincial or enterprise-scale health information technology systems .
8+ years
of experience working within the
primary health care domain , understanding clinical and technological aspects.
6+ years
of experience with clinical application integration and
interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR)
within the Canadian eHealth environment.
Proven experience working with or for provincial health ministries, health authorities, or comparable public-sector organizations.
