Overview
Join a rapidly growing line of business within National Bank of Canada and play a key role in expanding our footprint in Supply Chain Finance mainly in Ontario (factoring & reverse factoring) & working capital optimization across the country. As a Director, Business Development, you will act as a true market‑maker, identifying, structuring, and delivering innovative working‑capital solutions for and Mid‑market commercial clients, National accounts & Capital‑markets‑type clients.
You will evolve within a high‑growth segment supported by deep operational, legal, and portfolio‑management expertise, giving you the platform to originate bold ideas, execute complex transactions, and create measurable impact for clients across Canada.
This role is ideal for a seasoned dealmaker with the confidence to navigate complex corporate environments and the technical depth to assess and articulate risks inherent to factoring, receivable finance, and SCF programs.
Location: Toronto-based with mandates and clients across Canada.

Your Team
You will join a national team of specialized professionals within Commercial Banking & Private Banking 1859. Our group is recognized for its end‑to‑end operating model, strong collaboration, and deep subject‑matter expertise in receivable finance and supply‑chain finance.
Responsibilities
Lead proactive business development efforts to originate new receivable‑finance (factoring) and supply‑chain‑finance opportunities across Canada, with a strong focus on the Ontario market.
Build and nurture relationships with large commercial clients, national accounts, and capital‑markets‑type organizations
Develop high‑quality, tailored business proposals aligned with client working‑capital objectives.
Structure transactions that align with the Bank’s risk appetite, operational capabilities, and credit policies.
Identify industry‑specific risks inherent to factoring and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
Prepare, present, and defend transactions before credit committees with clarity and credibility.
Collaborate closely with specialized legal, operational, underwriting, and portfolio‑management teams to ensure seamless execution.
Promote SCF and receivable‑finance solutions internally and externally; provide training as required.
Understand client needs deeply and design customized working‑capital programs.
Prerequisites
Bachelor’s degree with 7–10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated success dealing and negotiating with corporate clients generating $50M+ in revenue.
Strong experience in receivable finance, supply chain finance, or factoring (required).
Solid grounding in corporate finance, credit, and risk assessment.
Ability to assess, articulate, and mitigate risks inherent to receivable‑based lending.
Strong communication and presentation skills, especially in defending files before credit.
A well‑established network of business contacts in Ontario, with a proven ability to leverage relationships to originate new opportunities.
Availability for occasional travel across Canada.
